Impact of Music

As the percentage of teenage pregnancy and the use of drugs/alcohol in teens continue to accumulate, the more people are believing that the music teens listen to is the biggest influence on the actions of the teenagers is music.

According to msnbc.com, Songs depicting men as “sex-driven studs,” women as sex objects and with explicit references to sex acts are more likely to trigger early sexual behavior than those where sexual references are more veiled and relationships appear more committed, the study found. Teens who said they listened to lots of music with degrading sexual messages were almost twice as likely to start having intercourse or other sexual activities within the following two years as were teens who listened to little or no sexually degrading music.
I chose this quote because it proves how music can control a persons behavior.

Most of the time, teenagers will listen to profane music because they like the beat without really listening to the lyrics therefore they are exposing themselves to negativity without even realizing it.

Music is not as innocent as it seems to be. Parents often wonder where they went wrong when their son or daughter gets into some serious trouble such as teen pregnancy or get arrested for underage drinking and drug use however they don’t realize they allowed their teens to listen to negative music.

  1. I really thought TV was the number one cause of it all, I guess not. Did they say certain artists that were mainly involved in this?

  2. This is a topic that I have been interested in learning more about. In the first paragraph on the last sentence you repeated yourself saying that the music is the number one influence influence, other than that it looks really good and you done a good job of getting your point across. Keep on working hard and I would love to see what else you might have on this topic and in the future. Keep up the good work.
